Boochie Boochie - Drama, Trauma & Rescue!

Boochie Boochie is a $5 little stuffed doll that Amie has had since she was a baby.  Because she was always wanting it around her when she was old enough to explain that is what she wanted, we have bought probably 20 or more of the little dolls over the first few years.  Unfortunately - they don't even make them any more!

Even though we have many many of these little baby dolls - none of them are "Boochie Boochie" - you see Boochie Boochie has her hands chewed and sucked on for upwards of 6 years now.  She knows the difference & will not accept any other one.

We hit the road to Gatlinburg on Saturday July 16th.  We spent the night in Clarksville, Indiana (right outside of Louisville Kentucky).  We ate breakfast at Bob Evans.....this is the last siting of Boochie Boochie for almost a week!

By Sunday night, we could not find Boochie Boochie, but assured Amie we would tear the van apart and find her on Monday.

On Monday, we called the Bob Evans - she wasn't there.  We went to the Condo office - she wasn't there.

On Tuesday we drove back to the Ruby Tuesday we had eaten at less than an hour from Gatlinburg - she wasn't there.  We went back to the condo office to talk to someone else - she wasn't there.

We searched for receipts from the 5-6 places we stopped at through out the rest of the drive through Kentucky & Tennessee.  We could not find any receipts in the van (I had cleaned the van looking for Boochie Boochie - darn!).  I couldn't find any receipts in my purse.  Darwin finally found ONE receipt in his wallet from Sunday- it was when we stopped for gas at a gas station in Frankfort Kentucky - it was worth a shot.  I googled the address & got a phone number.

I left a message on the voicemail, asking for someone to call me back about a lost and found item.

I missed a call from the same number that evening.  I called the number back on Wednesday morning & someone picked up.  When I started to ask about lost and found, she said if it was cell phone or wallet, there was another number to call.  I said, no actually, it's just a little cloth doll that might have been left in the bathroom last Monday.  She said, "just a minute" and put me on hold.  When she came back she explained to me that she had found it & just knew that a little girl was going to miss her baby doll!  She had it and it was in her desk ready to be picked up!!!  WHAT!!  How incredible was that?  Not only was Boochie Boochie located through a single receipt that had been kept - but the person that found her, didn't just sweep her into the trash!!

I contacted another 16p family that lives near there - that would be driving right by on their way to the gathering & she agreed to rescue Boochie Boochie on Saturday morning!!

Many HUGE thanks to Nicole for rescuing Boochie Boochie - this was the picture she sent us when she got there!! Yup - that is Boochie Boochie!!!!

What a happy Amie - I threw Boochie Boochie in the washing machine as soon as we got her & by bed time - she was ready for Lovins!!!

Boochie Boochie is a small little doll that is worth less than a dollar to anyone else - but she is worth a million dollars to one little girl!!  Miracles to happen - and this is a living breathing example of how wonderful and caring some people can be!  It would have been easier for everyone involved to have not kept her safe and to have not wasted the time to pick her up!!  Thank you to Five Star Shell Station in Frankfort, Kentucky & Thank you to Nicole Morgan & her family for rescuing her!
